Hunt CPR

Community Preservation & Revitalization Program for a Recovering Hunt, TX

Has a clear and charitable purpose

for our community.

Creates a measurable economic impact

for the families that live and work here.

Supports a stable, retained workforce

for seasonal and year-round jobs in Hunt.

On July 4, 2025, a historic flood devastated the Hunt community, claiming lives and destabilizing a rural community built on intergenerational tradition and stewardship.

Recognizing the need for coordinated community efforts, the Hunt Preservation Society (HPS) launched the Hunt Community Preservation & Revitalization Program (Hunt CPR) to stabilize essential services, reopen community anchors, preserve workforce housing, and protect the Guadalupe River corridor, especially ahead of the vital summer season.

Our Mission

In response to the July 4th tragedy, HPS has been working with community partners to ensure donations flowed to those who need it most. The Hunt CPR program delivers targeted gap-funding grants to support the economic stabilization, cultural preservation, environmental stewardship, and long-term resilience of the Hunt community through three integrated pillars:

01. Community Anchors & Gathering Spaces

02. Cultural Identity & Intergenerational Traditions

03. Riverway Stewardship & Environmental Education

Hunt CPR is designed to complement — not duplicate — existing disaster programs, accelerating recovery where timing and local realities demand focused action. CPR funds are designated to bridge critical recovery gaps that cannot be met through traditional disaster assistance.

The total rebuild of Hunt is estimated to cost more than $50 million.

CPR has targeted a $3 million fundraising goal ahead of May 1, 2026, when the busy summer season typically begins. The funds will be used to sustain Hunt’s seasonal economy, boosting tourism, employment, and regional economic activity while full rebuilding efforts continue.
